Sunset July 12th, 2006
Incredible sunset tonight at Po'olenalena Beach where Kathy and Doug renewed their wedding vows of 26 years. With them in attendance were their children Zach and Megan. Doug surprised Kathy with a new ring (grooms take note hint hint) and the ceremony went exactly as it was supposed to with the blending of the water and Kukui Nut bracelets. Congratulations Doug and Kathy, we wish you another 26 years of happiness.
The sun just peaked up over Haleakala-
Good morning from Maui-
Gorgeous day- nice cool 67 in Kihei with not a cloud in the sky and the birds are singing and the fragrance of Plumeria is just everywhere this morning. We still have a few more months of the Plumeria trees blooming, what a great reminder as we say here in local talk "lucky we live Hawaii"
What a great day to be married!
A question from an upcoming wedding just came in that is very important and applies to every wedding whether it is just the two of you or several given and chosen family attending.
Q: We have one concern we are hoping that you can help us with. Our party is staying up in Ka'anapali for the long weekend and we were a little concerned about the drive from Po'olenalena and the restaurant after all of the festivities. We don't want any of our guest to be to intoxicated to make it back to the hotel safely. Should we switch to a more northern beach? Is there one that you recommend? Or, should we hire a limo bus to transport us all safely?
A: Honestly, there just are not any locations on the West side that are accommodating for that many guests and give us any privacy- I’ll do a wedding in the middle of a mall, I love celebrating love anywhere- but it is uncomfortable for the couple and it is also a bit difficult for vendors to do their thing (i.e. musician, photographer etc.) so Po’olenalena really is the best choice unless… you secure a private location and the cost for that can be quite high- upwards to $1,000.00 on the West side.
We can absolutely accommodate the transportation needs with our limousine company- they have several options. I would have the two of you and up to 6 other guests in a stretch limousine and the rest we can have either Cadillac Escalades, or vans that can carry I think up to 10 each. Then let everyone get plowed safely (no sexual pun there I promise).

What a gorgeous day on Maui to have a wedding- We celebrated the commitment ceremony with Mellisa and Jennifer wit four of the given and chosen family- They arrived in a white stretch limo with the red carpet pulled out and waiting for them were Reverend Juddee and the photographer Sean-Michael Hower. Melissa's bouquet was gorgeous, but then again she was gorgeous. And that ring! My God she is wearing an entire diamond mine. Jennifer complimented with the perfect white shirt and slacks, both were radiant. And what a handsome group of given and chosen family, all of their smiles just lit up the beach.
We also celebrated the marriage of Sarah and Jacob- the winds picked up and Sarah had her hair down (make note ladies... hair up!). Sarah wore the most gorgeous gown and with her was a gift given to her when she was born, a white head scarf that turned into a handkerchief for her to carry on her wedding day. Wow her entire life was held in her hand- unbelievable. She held her scrumptious bouquet when Jacob took her hand and guided her to the ceremony site. Given family were present and they all received a lei and they also participated in the wedding by blessing the rings with the gift of the Ha'a which is the breath of life, they simply blew on the rings as I passed them by. So many fun but just as many serious moments in the ceremony. The wind was something else but we persevered and a beautiful ceremony was had.
So another fantastic day here on Maui- tomorrow we marry Drew and Darlene as well as Scott and Samuel- it is gonna be just as fantastic
